We have introduced a foundational update to how Units and Courses relate in Wisenet LRM. This change brings significant benefits:
- Eliminates duplication by allowing Units to be shared across multiple Courses
- Reduces admin effort with a more efficient setup process
- Supports scalable course structures for both accredited and short courses
- Simplifies change management across your learning programs
- Improves user experience with updated UI layouts and streamlined bulk actions
Key Change: Introducing CourseUnit
Previously, Units were linked directly to a single Course, creating isolated and duplicated records.
With this release, we have introduced a new layer called CourseUnit, which acts as a bridge between Courses and Units.
- Every existing Course > Unit relationship has now been mirrored as a new CourseUnit.
- No Units have been merged at this stage. This ensures existing data and workflows remain stable.
What to Expect
You’ll notice changes across the Course and Unit areas to support this update. These include interface improvements, new linking structures and enhanced bulk update capabilities – all aimed at making course management easier and more intuitive.
Here’s what’s new in Wisenet LRM with the Unification update.
Update 1: Scope > Courses > Units Link to CourseUnits
Units Link now opens the CourseUnits page instead of just listing Units.
Note: It still opens the page called ‘Units’, but it now displays Units based on their relationship to a Course via CourseUnits.
What is a CourseUnit?
Previously, Courses were directly linked to Units in a one-to-one setup. If you wanted to use the same Unit in multiple Courses, you had to duplicate it leading to inconsistent data and extra admin effort.
Now, we’ve introduced a more flexible, modern approach:
CourseUnits
A CourseUnit is a bridge between a Course and a Unit. Instead of duplicating the Unit, we create a CourseUnit record that links the Course to the shared Unit. This link allows you to:
- Reuse a single Unit across multiple Courses without duplication.
- Customise fields at the Course level (e.g., hours, credits etc.), while preserving the original Unit data.
- Maintain clean, centralised data that’s easier to update, audit, and manage.

Update 2: The Units page within a Course now displays CourseUnits page
This reflects the new structure where Units are linked to Courses through CourseUnits. You can Add, Edit or Remove CourseUnits from this page.

Update 3: Scope > Courses > Units > Add Unit action has been updated.
You can now either link an existing Unit to the Course, or create a brand new Unit, which will automatically be linked as a CourseUnit to the Course you’re working in.

Update 4: Scope > Courses > Add Course > Save and Add Units has been updated.
The save button label has been updated from “Save and Add Units” to “Save and Manage Units” to better reflect the new workflow, where you can link existing Units or create new ones using the CourseUnit model.

Update 5: Scope > Units page updated.
Units page now displays the number of Courses each Unit is shared with, giving you instant visibility into how and where your Units are being used across your courses.

Update 6: Scope > Units > Add Unit has been updated to give you two options:
You can now link the new Unit directly to a Course, or create a standalone Unit that isn’t tied to any Course yet.

Update 7: Unit Details page updated.
The unit details page has been refreshed with a new, modern interface for a more streamlined and consistent experience.

Update 8: Units now feature a new Courses tab.
The new Courses tab in a unit displays a list of all Courses that share the Unit. From this page, you can also view or delete the CourseUnit associated with each Course.

Update 9: Course Offer > Unit Offers Page has been updated.
The Unit Offers page has been refreshed to reflect the latest UI improvements, creating a more cohesive look and feel that aligns with other areas of the platform.
Additionally, two new tabs have been introduced for improved organisation and management:
Units of Study / Unit Groups are moved to Unit Management
Unit Enrolments
Bulk updates are now handled through filtered lists across the relevant tabs, making it easier to manage large sets of data efficiently.
Note: To better distinguish between course-level and unit-level enrolments, “Enrolments” has been renamed to “Course Enrolments.”

Update 10: Adding Unit Offers to a Course Offer has been updated to the new flow.
The process for adding Unit Offers to a Course Offer has been streamlined for greater clarity and efficiency.

Update 11: Adding Units of Study or Unit Groups to a Course Offer is now managed through the Unit Management page.
The process remains the same but offers greater flexibility, allowing for easier organisation and management of your units and groups within course offers.

Update 12: Improved Bulk Update Process
Bulk update options on the Unit Offers page have been enhanced for better efficiency and usability.
You can now perform bulk actions directly from the Unit Offers and Unit Enrolments pages, allowing for a more focused and streamlined workflow.

Update 13: Staff Scope View has been updated
The staff scope tab now features two distinct tabs: one for Courses, one for Units offering cleaner navigation and clarity, especially in cases where trainers work across many units or courses.
To complete the staff matrix and link staff to courses and units, follow the same process as before by adding the courses from the Courses tab and then click the icon to choose the appropriate units.
To link staff to units only, go to Staff > Scope > Units, you will see a complete list of available units with the ability to search by unit code or description.
If you see a unit listed multiple times, it may be because the same unit is available in multiple courses. In this case, simply select and add all instances of the unit to the trainer to ensure their scope is accurately reflected across all relevant courses.
The list loads the first 100 units instantly, with the option to search for more on demand.

Update 14: Cascade Features
The new Cascade functionality helps you save time and reduce errors by automating the flow of data from Course Offers to their associated Unit Offers and Unit Enrolments. Instead of manually updating the same information in multiple places, you can simply cascade key field values such as start dates, locations, delivery modes, and more with just a few clicks.
This ensures consistency across your enrolment records, especially when managing large cohorts or making bulk changes. It’s a smart, scalable way to maintain data accuracy and streamline your administrative processes.
Learn how to use the Cascade feature in Wisenet.
NOTE: If you’ve used the Cascade Unit Hours function before, you can now complete the process using the new Cascade from Unit to Unit Offers and Unit Enrolments option.

Can I have the same units listed under each Course?
Yes, you can still copy and create duplicate Units to list them under multiple Courses.
However, this is not recommended.
With the introduction of CourseUnit, there is now a better way to manage this process. Instead of duplicating Units, you can link a single Unit to multiple Courses using the CourseUnit structure – reducing redundancy and simplifying maintenance.
What happens to the existing duplicate units in Wisenet LRM?
Existing duplicate Units will remain unchanged with this release — we have not merged them automatically to avoid unintended impacts on your data.
