A Shared Unit Offer is a Unit Offer that is linked to more than one Course Offer.
Unit Offers are independent records. This means a Unit Offer can exist without being linked to a Course Offer or can exist linked to one or many Course Offers at the same time.
The main benefit of using Shared Unit Offers is that enrolments can be managed centrally for a unit that is delivered across multiple courses/course offers. Instead of creating separate Unit Offers for each Course Offer, the same Unit Offer can be linked where required.
This is useful when the same unit is delivered in the same way across different course offers and does not need to be managed as separate instances.
Examples include:
- A foundational safety unit shared across several trade qualifications.
- An elective unit available to learners from different courses.
- Rolling intake delivery, where learners from different Course Offer intakes complete the same Unit Offer together.
Key System Rules
- Linking or unlinking a Unit Offer from a Course Offer does not impact existing learner enrolments.
- Linking or unlinking does not change any Parent/Child Unit Offer relationships that have been set up.
- If a Unit Offer is linked to multiple Course Offers, changes made to the Unit Offer may affect how it appears or is used across those linked Course Offers.
- Before unlinking or deleting a Unit Offer, confirm whether the Unit Offer is shared with other Course Offers and whether it has active or historical enrolments.

Unlink a Unit Offer
How to Unlink a Unit Offer from a Course Offer
Unlinking unit offers only disconnects the Unit Offer from the specific Course Offer. Use this option when the Unit Offer should no longer be associated with the selected Course Offer, but the Unit Offer itself still needs to exist.
When a Unit Offer is unlinked:
- The Unit Offer record remains in Wisenet.
- Existing learner enrolments remain intact.
- The Unit Offer may still be linked to other Course Offers.
- Any Parent/Child relationships remain unchanged.

Delete a Unit Offer
It is important to understand the difference between Unlinking a Unit Offer and Deleting a Unit Offer.
Unlinking disconnects the Unit Offer from the specific Course Offer only. Deleting permanently removes the Unit Offer from Wisenet.
