Auto Grade FAQ

Why hasn’t my Auto Grade activity been created?

  • Canvas: Not all of the assignments in Canvas for a students specific Assignment Group have been graded yet
  • Moodle: Not all of the assignments in Moodle for a students specific Grade Category have been graded yet

Why has my Auto Grade activity been set to “To Review”?

There are several possible reasons:
  1. Unable to grade as Learner is inactive
  2. Unable to find a matching Unit Enrolment
  3. Unable to find an Auto Grade Rule
  4. The final grade does not match any of the Auto Grade Rule conditions
  5. Unit Enrolment already has a final grade

How do I ensure only the current unit enrolment is being autograded?

Scenario:

The student was initially enrolled in Course Offer A in Wisenet and was added to the associated eLearning course. After withdrawing, the student later returned to continue the same course and was re-enrolled under Course Offer B, which was also linked to the same eLearning course.

Because both course offers point to the same eLearning course, when the trainer records results in the eLearning platform, those outcomes are being pushed back to both unit enrolments across the two separate course enrolments in Wisenet.

Solution:

The best way to manage this scenario is by using Unit Enrolment Status. You must update the unit enrolments that have been withdrawn with a status = Withdrawn.
Steps to implement the unit status in the auto grade rule:
  1. Update the unit enrolments in Course Offer A that have been withdrawn to have a status of Withdrawn.
    • Field to update > Unit Status > Withdrawn
  2. Update the unit enrolments that are current in Course Offer B to have the status of Current. You can bulk update this from the course offer. See steps in this article Bulk Update Unit Enrolment
    • Field to update > Unit Status > Current
  3. Update the AutoGrade rules to have the additional setting on – Use unit enrolment status logic for autograde and Only Autograde Current Unit Enrolments – See point no.3 in this article How to Setup Auto Grade Rules
