Both Custom Questions and certain Custom Fields can appear on Application Forms, each serving different purposes. Be sure to choose the one that fits your needs.
Custom Questions
Custom Questions appear on Application Forms (and Contact Forms) only. Use them when you want to collect data specific for that submission. E.g., “How easy was it to fill out this application form?”
The data from Custom Questions stays in the form and is not updated anywhere else in LRM.

Custom Fields
Custom Fields appear in many different parts of LRM. Learners have their own Custom Fields, as do Course Enrolments, Courses, Workplaces, Staff, etc.
Custom Fields for Learners and Course Enrolments can also be added to Application Forms.
Application Form Custom Field data can be automatically updated in LRM if you choose. Otherwise it stays in the application form.
