Wisenet Finance Updates are Now Live

More flexibility and control for finance teams

Wisenet Finance has been updated. These updates provide greater flexibility over the management of learner finance across the learner journey.

Wisenet Finance lets you manage learner finance directly from Wisenet.

The latest Wisenet Finance enhancements bring greater control, with new capabilities for Accounting Period Lockdown, invoices, payments, credit notes, refunds, write-offs, and Finance communications.

Together, these enhancements reduce manual effort, strengthen financial control and give you the flexibility to manage growing transaction volumes efficiently.

Improved preferred name display in Canvas

When users are synced to Canvas, Wisenet will now use the learner’s Preferred Name as their display name, or their First Name and Last Name if no Preferred Name is recorded.

This change applies to all new records, as well as existing records the next time they’re updated and synced. Existing records will not be automatically resynced.

Restrict Credential access in Learner App

You can now choose whether to display the Credentials section in the Learner App, giving you greater control over the learner experience.

If your organisation doesn’t use credentials, simply hide the page to create a more focused learner experience.

Google Sign-In for the Learner App

Learners can now sign in to the Learner App with their Google account, making it faster and easier to access the platform using a familiar login method.

Simply enable Google Sign-In in the Learner App settings to give learners another secure and convenient way to sign in.

Incomplete Course Offers can create extra work for your team in the long run.

More Flexible SMS Messaging

Following recent changes in Australian regulation, Wisenet’s SMS capabilities have been expanded to give your organisation more control.

Through our partnership with MessageMedia, you can now connect an account and register a Sender ID so learners can continue to recognise your organisation as the sender.

You can continue to create and send SMS messages directly from Wisenet, and all messages are automatically recorded in the learner or course enrolment logbook for complete communication history.

Unit Offer Unification

Unit Offer Unification is a foundational project designed to simplify how units are structured, shared, and managed across course offers, while giving you more flexibility where it actually matters.

At its core, it removes unnecessary duplication and allows unit delivery to be managed in a way that mirrors how education is really delivered.

At the core of this update is a shift to a simpler, more flexible Unit Offer model.

  • Unit Offers will be able to be shared across multiple Course Offers
  • Unit Groups will be retired and replaced with a unified structure
  • Unit hierarchies will be managed through clear parent-child relationships

Alongside these structural improvements, we are updating a number of key areas across Wisenet to improve usability and consistency. This is a significant structural improvement, but the core workflows you rely on will remain familiar.

New option in Auto Grade Rules

Added a new option in Auto Grade Rules to autograde learners with a Current course enrolment status only.

Only Autograde Current Course Enrolments
Autograde Current Enrolments

If a learner has the same unit enrolled across multiple course enrolments, Autograde will:

  • Find all matching unit enrolments for that unit code
  • Then decide which ones to update based on the toggle setting

When the toggle is ON:

  • Autograde only updates unit enrolments that belong to the learner’s Current course enrolment
  • Any matching units in non-current (e.g. completed, withdrawn etc.) course enrolments are ignored

When the toggle is OFF:

  • Autograde updates all matching unit enrolments, across all course enrolments, regardless of course enrolment status

NOTE: You can control eligibility using Course Enrolment Status, Unit Enrolment Status, or a combination of both, depending on how you configure the rules.
