Reporting Requirement and Schedule: Policy and Supporting Documents
Introducing SaS
Smart and Skilled (SaS) is a reform of the NSW Vocational Education and Training (VET) system. Approved Smart and Skilled training providers are contracted to deliver government-subsidised courses.
Approved training providers have obligations to deliver quality training, adhere to Smart and Skilled guidelines and policies, implement the new fee arrangements and establish consumer protection processes.
Before you begin with set up, learn more about:

Set Up for Correct Reporting
If you are required to complete Smart and Skilled (SaS) reporting, it is important that you incorporate specific SaS field collection and processes into your Course Offer, Learner and Enrolment setup. Spending a little more time up front can save a lot of time later.

Prepare for Exports
While this is not strictly required, it is however recommended, as it allows you to proactively complete your data integrity checks to ensure
- The right amount of data is being reported
- There isn’t any incorrect data
- Update outcome codes
Run your SaS Export
Once you are ready to export the SaS data you can follow the export steps.
Export Submission Errors
After your export has been submitted to Smart and Skilled there may still be errors.
These errors descriptions and how to fix them can be found on the NSW Reject ID page.
