How to Add a Moodle Course

Use the instructions below to add courses to your Moodle site.

Before you begin:

Required Knowledge: Moodle

Required Moodle Access: Moodle Admin Or, Course Admin Or, Course Creator Or, Teacher with Editing permission

Add a Moodle Course
  1. Navigate to Administration, under Site Administration, click Courses
  2. Click Manage Courses and Categories
  3. Either, Click on the category where you want your course to be, Or, if you wish to add a new category, click on Create New Category, complete all the required details and click Create Category
  4. Click the Create New Course link
  5. Enter your course settings as required and click Save and Display to go back to your newly created course

Note

  • It is fine to leave settings at their default if you aren’t sure about them.
  • Ensure the course code is set correctly to enrol the right learners into your course

Warning

Moodle course settings for Enrolment and Enrolment expiry notification should be left as default to ensure that the automated Wisenet to Moodle learner enrolment process works correctly.

Add resources and activities to your Moodle course
  1. On the relevant Moodle Course page, Click Turn Editing On (usually found on the top right hand corner of the course page)
  2. The following will now appear:
    • Editing icons
    • Add a resource option
    • Add an activity option

You are now ready to start adding and editing more courses.

Note

The icons will slightly vary in appearance from one theme to another.
